Ligthning Controller

 Lightning Controller V1.0

The Ligthning controller was developed to improve your model. It will ligthen up your Spaceship, Fighter or any Model where you need LEDs for Trusters or cockpit illumination.

At least there are two Controllers:

Idle/Attack Controller

Color/Brightness Controller

The controller self is a Trinket 5V from Adafruit who has small dimnsions to fit into Models special here 1:18,1:24 and 1:29. For all other I would recommend to buitl the unit into the Sockel if possible.

Some data for the controller:

  • ATtiny85 on-board, 8K of flash, 512 byte of SRAM, 512 bytes of EEPROM
  • Micro-USB jack for power
  • ~5.25K bytes available for use (2.75K taken for the bootloader)
  • On-board 5.0V power regulator with 150mA output capability and ultra-low dropout. Up to 16V input, reverse-polarity protection, thermal and current-limit protection.
  • Power with either USB or external output (such as a battery) - it'll automatically switch over
  • On-board green power LED and red pin #1 LED
  • Reset button for restarting the program.
  • 5 GPIO

The Main PCB has several connectors for LEDs to bring life into your model.

This is the Idle/Attack Version

The dimensions of the PCB 48x19mm

The function of the Idle/Attack controller is special for Star Wars X-Wing developed.

All Truster LEDs are digital LEDs and available in 5mm or 8mm diameter. The Truster LEDs have a Flicker function.

When the Wings are closed or also called Idle/Cruise Modus  the Trusters are flicker Red, when the wings will open and switch to Attack Modus the Trusters will switch to Full brightness Magenta Flicker and vice versa. The fucntion is switched via Hallsensor. If you dont like the switching action you can put in a connector with Jumper to choose between Red or Magenta Flicker.

Also inlcuded is a Blink Led function where you can connect any LED and it will blink in a 50/50 ratio.

The other connections for the LED can bes used with steady or blink LED to illuminate the Cockpit or for example the eye from R2-D2.

If you don´t like the digital LEDS you can also connect normal LED (blink, steady).

For all LED connectors you are free to connect any LED with resistor the output will be 5V, except the digital LEDs need no resistor.

To power up the controller you can use a Micro USB power supply or you can also use the X5 connector. Wide range of acceptable voltages 6-16VDC.

This is the Light/Bright Version

The dimensions of the PCB 55x19mm

With this version you can adjust via R1 Poti 8 different Colors for your Trusters and all of them Flicker, the Poti R2 is used to adjust the brightness and a also the Flicker behavior.

The Hallsensor function is not included in this version but the rest is the same as above for the Idle/Attack Controller.
